Welch Encourages Applications for Illinois Legislative Black Caucus Foundation Scholarship
WESTCHESTER, Ill. – House Speaker Emanuel ‘Chris’ Welch is helping local students continue their education by supporting the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus Foundation (ILBCF) Scholarship and encouraging qualified degree seekers to apply.
Welch’s non-profit organization, Excellence in Bleu, made a $50,000 donation to support the ILBCF Scholarship in November. The support will enable ILBCF to make $150,000 in scholarships available for the coming school year. More than $1.5 million in scholarships have been distributed to Illinois students since 2002.
“These scholarships have invested in some of our most talented, most motivated students, while also planting the seeds of civic engagement and service to others in the next generation of leaders,” Welch said. “I’m so proud to ensure that these scholarships can continue to make a difference for our students and for entire communities.”
Welch is also urging high school seniors and undergraduate students attending Illinois-based two or four-year institutions to apply for the scholarship for the 2024-2025 school year. Applications are being accepted online at ilbcf.org/scholarships through May 31, 2025
