Speaker Welch Thanks Volunteers, Local Vendors for Successful Senior & Veterans Resource Fair

FOREST PARK – Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch hosted his 12th annual Senior and Veteran Resource Fair last weekend at Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy in Forest Park. The event welcomed hundreds of attendees who enjoyed a free lunch, games, raffle prizes, and were able to receive free health screenings and resources for seniors and veterans.

“I want to thank everyone who made the 12th annual Senior and Veterans Resource Fair a success,” said Speaker Welch. “From my district staff to the vendors who traveled from across the state, we had all hands on deck and we were able to provide essential services and resources for many people in my community. It means a great deal to be able to give back in this way and I’m already looking forward to next year’s event!”

Attendees had the chance to visit with more than 30 state and local vendors, which included the Illinois Department of Veteran Affairs, the Illinois Department on Aging, West Suburban Senior Services, Veterans Case Management Services, Active Life Medical Supplies, and many more. The Secretary of State Securities Department also came and spoke about fraud and how seniors can better protect themselves.

Speaker Welch would like to thank Symone’s Catering and McDonald’s for providing food and coffee, as well as Way Back Inn for sponsoring the meal. A big thanks to Walgreens and Himes VA for providing vaccines. Kroger Foods sponsored produce bags that were given to attendees and West Suburban Senior Services sponsored the games.

“There are so many people who made this resource fair a great success and I’m incredibly grateful,” said Speaker Welch. “This is what service is all about, and I’m proud to be surrounded by so many wonderful people who find joy in giving back to others.”
