Speaker Welch, Lawmakers Return to Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch and Illinois lawmakers returned to Springfield this week for the lame duck session and inaugural events for the 103rd General Assembly next week.
“I enjoyed some much-needed time with loved ones over the holiday season, but I’m happy to be back in Springfield doing the people’s work,” said Speaker Welch. “I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve accomplished in the 102nd General Assembly and I’m eager to see what we can get done for Illinoisans in the upcoming session.”
The lame duck session is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 4th through Saturday, Jan. 7th. Governor JB Pritzker’s inauguration will take place on Monday, Jan. 9th. Lawmakers will resume lame duck session on Tuesday, Jan. 10th and the new 103rd General Assembly will be sworn in on Wednesday, Jan. 11th at noon.
