Speaker Welch to Host Annual Senior and Veteran Resource Fair Next Weekend
FOREST PARK – Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch will host his 12th annual Senior and Veteran Resource Fair on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event will be held at the Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy in Forest Park.
“It’s an honor to be able to give back to my community in this way,” said House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch. “For more than a decade, these resource fairs have connected our senior and veteran population with important state resources, free vaccinations, local services, and we have a lot of fun while doing it. I’ve been in this community all my life and so many of these wonderful people have helped shape me into who I am today; they are the ones I fight for when I go to Springfield. It is a great privilege to host this annual resource fair.”
Attendees will have the chance to visit with state and local service providers, they’ll receive free health screenings and other resources for seniors and veterans, and they’ll be able to enjoy free lunch, fellowship, and bingo.
Last year’s event drew a crowd of several hundred and featured dozens of vendors, including Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias, who spoke about the updates to driver’s license services.
