Speaker Welch Honors Eddie Mae “Mother” Stegall

WESTCHESTER, Ill. – House Speaker Emanuel ‘Chris’ Welch presented Eddie Mae “Mother” Stegall with House Resolution 551 this week, to honor her decades of devotion and service to Miracle Revival Cathedral

“Ms. Eddie Mae ‘Mother’ Stegall has been a fixture in our community for years,” said Speaker Welch. “For nearly four decades, she has shown exemplary commitment and leadership at Miracle Revival Cathedral, and she has been a beacon of hope for many families who need it most. She has proven that we can change lives when we respond with love and kindness.”

Ms. Stegall began serving within the congregation of Miracle Revival Cathedral in 1984. She has served on the Mother’s Board, as coordinator for the Greeters Ministry, and the Nursing Board. Ms. Stegall played a pivotal role in establishing the Community Health Awareness program in 2006, which eventually led to the annual Community Health Fair. This event provides free medical and dental services, distributes essential supplies, and offers wholesome entertainment for the entire community.

Beyond her organizational roles in the congregation, Ms. Stegall has emerged as a community leader known for her loving and caring spirit, consistently extending a helping hand to those in need, and making an impact on youth in the community.

The Stegall Family issued this statement upon receiving the recognition for Mother Stegall:

“We are thrilled to share a heartwarming story that underscores the spirit of community and the positive impact of dedicated leaders like Eddie Mae “Mother” Stegall. Recently, Mother Stegall received a well- deserved acknowledgment through a resolution, flowers, and thoughtful gifts from Speaker Chris Welch’s office – a touching tribute that resonates deeply within our community.

Mother Stegall’s commitment to uplifting our neighborhood is nothing short of inspiring. Her visionary stewardship became evident in 2006 when she played an integral role in launching the Community Health Awareness program under the West Suburban Neighborhood Development. Rather than simply leading, she passionately spearheaded this initiative, becoming a guiding force behind the transformative annual Community Health Fair. This event has evolved into a vital pillar of support for our community, offering free medical and dental services, essential supplies, and wholesome entertainment.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Speaker Welch’s office for recognizing Mother Stegall’s outstanding contributions. Their gesture goes beyond a simple acknowledgment; it is a testament to the collaborative efforts and positive change that can be achieved when leaders actively support and uplift community initiatives.

To Speaker Chris Welch, we commend your steadfast dedication to uplifting District 7. The resolution, flowers, and gifts not only symbolize appreciation but stand as markers of the profound impact your leadership has within our community. Your commitment to community service and recognition of local heroes, like Mother Stegall, who have since retired, inspire us all to aspire to greatness.

As we share this heartwarming story with you, we hope it resonates with the spirit of community and encourages continued support for leaders like Speaker Welch, who play a crucial role in the well-being of our neighborhood. We appreciate your interest in recognizing those who tirelessly work for the betterment of others and look forward to celebrating the ongoing mission to uplift our community.”
