Speaker Welch to Host Annual Community Shred Day

 

BELLWOOD, Ill. – House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch is hosting his annual community shred day on Saturday, April 15th from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Bellwood Village Hall. The event is free to the public and shredding will be accepted until the shred trucks reach capacity. 

The goal of the event is to help protect residents from identity theft by safely shredded important documents. Bring any documents that contain personally identifiable information – such as old bank statements, tax returns, bills, receipts, credit card applications, outdated medical records, and more.

There is a two-box limit per car and cardboard boxes cannot be left at the event. Please remove all paper clips, staples, and other bindings.

DCEO has enlisted a robust network of more than 100 community navigators to conduct outreach and provide technical assistance in the hardest hit communities. Community Navigators have been conducting community outreach, hosting webinars, and supporting prospective applicants to prepare their documents for submission.
