Speaker Welch Announces Democratic Committee Assignments

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Today, Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch announced the final list of committee assignments for House Democratic members. Consistent with the Speaker's desire for quick action, the Democratic leadership team worked diligently to craft a diverse roster of committees primed to move quickly on the range of issues facing the state.

“Today’s decision on committee assignments marks one of the final steps to get the 102nd House of Representatives organized,” said Speaker Welch. “We weighed demographic, economic, and geographic factors to make sure every member has a voice on the issues facing their constituents and Illinois residents overall. I look forward to supporting committees over the coming weeks and months as we move forward with this legislative session.”

Next, the Speaker will send these Democratic assignments to the House Republicans for their appointments. Once finalized, the Speaker and committee chairs will quickly finalize logistics for committee work to commence remotely with full access for public participation and commentary.
