The Office of the Speaker to Host First Ever Open House Job Fair

 

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Office of Illinois House Speaker Emanuel "Chris" Welch invites jobseekers and those looking to network to the first ever Open House Job Fair at the Illinois State Capitol. The event will be held on Tuesday, October 12 beginning at 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

"As the first Black Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives in our 200-plus year history of this state, I'm extremely proud to be a voice for equity and diversity," said Speaker Welch. "Diversity, equity and inclusion is what I've fought for my entire life and in this position I get to lead by example and practice what I preach. Diversity, equity and inclusion is what we want in the Speaker's office."

The Office of the Speaker is actively recruiting for legislative coordinators, communications specialists, assistant counsel, IT security specialists, clerical staff and much more. In addition to the in-person event at the Illinois State Capitol that will be held in Room 114, there will also be a virtual event held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. via zoom. "We want to make sure the people that come work for us are honest, they have integrity and they come here and work with pride," said Speaker Welch. "We believe in the team approach and what we do here is work together and we get big things done."
